On Monday, December 16, Daren Sammy got appointed as the head coach of West Indies in all-formats, and he will officially take charge of the team from April 1, 2025, while for now, he will continue his duties in white-ball formats. During a quarterly press conference of the Cricket West Indies (CWI), which was held in St. Vincent, their Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe made the announcement of bringing Daren Sammy on board for the team in the Test format.
Notably, Daren Sammy, who has won the T20 World Cup as captain in 2012 and 2016, will be replacing Andre Coley, who is the current head coach of West Indies’ Test team. After being appointed as the white-ball coach in 2023, he has improved the West Indies cricket team leaps and bounds with some consistent results after they were unable to qualify for the ODI World Cup last year.
