During the final over of the first innings between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Rajasthan Royals, there occurred a bizarre runout in which Nandre Burger was dismissed. The South African didn’t even seem like he wanted to complete the run as it was just lazy running. The decision to run the second when there is a recognized batter like Ravindra Jadeja at the other end is in itself an illogical decision. The all-rounder should have taken the responsibility to hit the boundaries in the last over and it seemed like their cricketing brain just flicked off for a second. They would be disappointed that they got just 36 runs in the last 5 overs after such a strong start.
The Rajasthan Royals were in for a total above 250 with the kind of start they have got in the innings. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gave them a brilliant start and that set the foundation for a mammoth total on board. Nandre Burger walked in to bat right at the end and there is a possibility that Jadeja might have thought to maximise the runs on the board. Rajasthan Royals wouldn’t bother much about the finish as they have set a good enough total on board.
Jadeja doesn’t trust himself to finish the match even over Nandre Burger😭 pic.twitter.com/Vss7wNOM4M

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s early blitz masks RR’s chaotic finish against SRH
Ravindra Jadeja and Nandre Burger were at the crease for the final over and the Royals would have expected them to cross the 250-run mark. But a big blunder was made in the final over of the innings as Ravindra Jadeja decided to run for the second. He should have retained the strike to score some impactful boundaries. In the game between LSG and PBKS, Abdul Samad did a sensible job to keep the strike despite the dot balls and that helped them to secure a massive total on board. Something similar should have been done by Ravindra Jadeja and they could have crossed the 250-run mark with ease.
The Rajasthan Royals did have the cushion of not utilizing the death overs just because of one man and that is Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. He was simply exceptionally good with the bat and SRH did make a comeback pretty well but the damage caused earlier on was quite deep. Dhruv Jurel pulled off some cracking shots from his arsenal as well and that just was the icing on the cake. None of their middle order batters could make a real contribution and very rarely have we seen such a poor performance not impacting the scoreboard. The Sunrisers Hyderabad will be hoping to chase it down to keep their title hopes alive in the TATA IPL 2026.
