Amidst the ongoing transfer window, Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez has finally made a switch to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. The star striker, who featured for Premier League champions Liverpool, confirmed his move to Al-Hilal on Sunday, August 10. With this the Saudi Pro League has secured the services of another marquee player.

Nunez, who was long in talks with the Al-Hilal side with negotiations coming from both ends, saw the most successful team in Saudi Arabia secure him for a reported 46.3 million pounds (USD 62 Million) for a term of three years, which will be valid until June 2028. The club also confirmed that Nunez will continue to wear No. 7 at the Saudi top-club.

Al-Hilal signs Darwin Nunez for three-year deal keeping him until June 2028

“Al-Hilal Club Company is pleased to announce the signing of Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez from Liverpool FC on a three-year contract," the club said in a statement. The ex-Liverpool striker will be joined by the likes of Portuguese internationals Ruben Neves and Joao Cancelo, Senegal captain Kalidou Koulibaly and former Fulham striker Aleksander Mitrovic.

The Uruguayan international leaves Liverpool after a mixed season, where he scored 40 goals in 143 games and also lifted the Premier League title last season. However, he made only one league start from the turn of the year and scored just seven goals in 47 appearance last season. With Nunez out of the Reds, it would bring Liverpool’s transfer income to nearly 200 million euros following departure of Luis Diaz, Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Tyler Morton.
