Sport is said to be a great leveller. Those following the recent performances of David Warner would agree. This was a man who at one point could do no wrong struggling to score runs. Leave aside scoring runs, he was getting dismissed in the first over of the innings itself and when he scored, he wasn't quite the Warner fans once knew.
Such awful was his form with the bat that he was not only stripped of his IPL captaincy but even removed from their playing XI. In what could be an embarrassing situation for an international star of Warner's repute, he was even asked to stay back at the team hotel as his franchise SunRisers Hyderabad played a game in the IPL.
However, the star Aussie cricketer took everything sportingly worked hard on his training and at the biggest stage in international cricket - the T20 World Cup - he delivered. Once he started scoring runs, there was no looking back as Australia clinched their maiden T20 World Cup trophy riding on the consistent scores at the top of the order from Warner.
Before Australia got to lift their trophy at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday after they had beaten New Zealand by 8 wickets, Warner was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament as he finished with 289 runs in 7 innings. It was at this time that Warner's wife Candice chose to give it back to Davey's critics as she shared an image of Warner being the Player of the Tournament and wrote, "Out of form, too old and slow! ?? @davidwarner31."

"I always felt good, for me it was about going back to basics, getting on some hard, synthetic wickets in order to hit volumes of balls," Warner said after receiving the prize.
"(This win) Definitely up there with 2015 (ODI World Cup), losing to England a decade ago really hurt. These are a great bunch of guys, great support staff, and great support around the world, especially back home," he added.
"Always pumped, wanted to put on a spectacle. There were some nerves around as always in a final but great to see the guys deliver," he stated.
