Ahead of Tokyo Olympics 2020, India’s star archer Deepika Kumari has gained No.1 position in World Archery Rankings. The 27-year-old recently secured a hat-trick of gold medals in stage 3 of Archery World Cup in Paris. “This is going to take Deepika to the number one spot in the world rankings on Monday," World Archery announced on Twitter as India’s ace archer completed her treble by winning a gold in three recurve events, namely, individual, mixed pair and team.

Notably, the Ranchi born archery sensation is the only Indian woman archer to represent the country at the forthcoming Tokyo Olympics 2020.

I have to continue my performance like this: Deepika

Upon becoming the World No.1 archer, Deepika Kumari expressed her elation and emphasised that she needs to continue this form in the upcoming games. "I'm happy, but at the same time I have to continue my performance like this. I want to improve that, because the upcoming tournament (Tokyo Olympics) is very, very important to us. I'm trying my best to continue learning whatever I can." Kumari mentioned.

Earlier the star couple, Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das clinched their first World Cup gold medal as a pair by defeating Netherland's Sjef van den Berg and Gabriela Schloesser 5-3. "It feels amazing. First time we won the final together, it feels so happy it feels we are made for each other. But in the ground we are not couple but like just other competitors, we motivate, support and back each other," Atanu highlighted.
