The auction for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 took place on 23 December. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) entered the auction with a purse amount of 8.75 Crores. The management stayed cautious throughout the auction as they avoided irrelevant bidding. With RCB retaining almost all of its players, the management was looking for backups. RCB roped in the likes of Reece Topley and Will Jacks in the first half of the auction.
Meanwhile, the team’s director Mike Hesson revealed who would be the two batters opening the innings for RCB at IPL 2023. While Anuj Rawat and Faf du Plessis remained the management’s first choice for opening last season , Mike Hesson revealed that they might open with Virat Kohli and du Plessis at IPL 2023.
Notably, RCB already have quite a few opening options in Rawat, Finn Allen, and du Plessis. But Finn Allen has not got enough opportunities while Anuj Rawat has played only a couple of good innings.
