The contract saga of Joshua Kimmich seems to be coming to an end. The current contract of the Bayern Munich midfielder is set to expire on 30th June 2025 and there has been a constant back and forth between the club officials and the players representatives over a new contract. The 30-year-old, who is one of the oldest and most experienced players alongside Manuel Neur in this current Bayern squad under Vincent Kompany, is apparently set to sign a new deal valid until June 2029 as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
It is now understood that the documents for Kimmich’s new deal are ready to be signed and the official announcement of the contract renewal will be announced soon by the club. The German midfielder who joined Bayern in 2015 from Stuttgart is playing his 10th season with the Bavarians, and will look to extend this partnership for a few more years.
A very interesting transfer saga soon coming to an end?
This has been one of the most interesting transfer sagas in recent years as multiple contradicting news have been doing the rounds since. There was a lot of interest from multiple top clubs including Arsenal and FC Barcelona to secure the signature of the midfielder. Even the Bayern director had not confirmed Kimmich’s decision to stay at the club, saying that the talks were still ongoing. In a recent statement by Kimmich himself, he said that he would make a decision about his future soon.
He said that he was looking to make a decision with the club before the start of the international break which is set to start on 22nd March 2025. Kimmich remains one of the finest midfielders to don Bayern’s jersey as he had played 428 games for the club, scoring 43 goals and giving 114 assists in the process. He also has 97 international caps.
