Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich’s contract saga does not seem to end soon. The 30-year-old’s current contract with the Bavarians is set to end on June 30 2025, with contract extension talks doing the rounds since forever. Kimmich signed a contract with Bayern in August 2021, keeping him tied to the club for almost the upcoming four years. However, over the last couple of months, several different pieces of news have been doing the rounds around his contract. Recently, Kimmich made an important statement regarding his future at Bayern saying that he is set to make a decision soon.
He said, “There will be a decision soon. It will be before the International break at the latest.” The international break for the European football calendar is set for the weekend of March 22. This will be the first matchday for the qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Bayern Munich Sporting Director Max Eberl had confirmed a few weeks ago that there had been no concrete discussions regarding a contract extension with Kimmich. This had led a lot of people to wonder whether this would be the last season at the club for the German midfielder. Recent statements given by Joshua Kimmich have only added fuel to the fire for such thoughts. He said, “Other clubs also play a role in my decision for the future,” indicating the chance of a potential transfer. He also added, “I won’t mention which clubs but there will be a decision soon.”
A lot of top clubs across Europe have been wanting to get the signature of Joshua Kimmich over the past year and understandably so. The midfielder has proved his mettle for the Bavarians being one of their oldest players in the current squad having signed in 2015. Recently there were reports of Arsenal looking to sign Kimmich, while Spanish giants FC Barcelona have always been open admirers of the German’s quality. It will be interesting to see what developments happen in this story in the coming weeks.
