Couple of List-A record was scripted during Tamil Nadu vs Arunachal Pradesh clash in Vijay Hazare Trophy on Monday in Bangalore. While Tamil Nadu became the first team to post over 500 runs in 50 overs, prolific opening batter N Jagadeesan and Sai Sudharsan stitched the highest partnership (416) for any wicket.

Notably, Arunachal Pradesh invited Tamil Nadu to bat first. The opening pair added 416-runs for the first wicket, with Sai Sudharsan making 154 in 102 balls with 19 fours and two sixes to his name.

Meanwhile, Jagadeesan scored 277 runs with the help of 25 fours and 15 sixes, surpassing Rohit Sharma's 264 and Ali Brown (268). The Tamil Nadu batter became the first batter to smash five consecutive centuries.

While Jagadeesan stole the show on Monday afternoon for his brilliant batting, Tamil Nadu's regular skipper and veteran wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik raised an essential question as he wished his teammate an incredible feat.

In a series of tweets, Karthik congratulated his teammate on stitching a historic partnership in the match. However, he questioned Vijay Hazare's format for putting Northeast teams up against quality sides in the league phase.

"Also, on another side note. Does it make sense to have the northeast team play the elite teams in the league phase? It just topples the run rates of teams and imagines if a match against one of these teams gets rained off! Can't they have a separate group and then qualify?" tweeted Karthik.

Notably, Vijay Hazare Trophy features 38 teams divided into five groups. Every group in the competition features one team from Northeast. Currently, each northeastern team is languishing at the bottom of their respective groups.

Arunachal is placed in Elite Group C and has so far played four matches and lost all of them.
