KL Rahul and failures in crunch matches have become synonyms for each other. It seems like it has become inevitable for Rahul to avoid getting out in big games. It happened yet again as the opening batter got out for only 5 runs while trying to guide a climbing delivery from Chris Woakes. Rahul could only manage a feather into the wicketkeeper’s hand.
Opening the innings for India, Rahul managed to keep the jitters of playing in the semifinals as he scored a boundary on the very first ball. He and Rohit managed to keep Ben Stokes away but Chris Woakes, with his lateral movements, was tougher to handle. As a result, Rahul could not cope up with the bounce on the ball and managed only a tickle.
With the opening batter failing to perform in an important game yet again, fans came hard at Rahul. They trolled the Indian opening batter left, right, and centre on Twitter. While some called him the biggest fraud in world cricket, a few take a dig by saying that it was expected of him.
