Chelsea had a terrible 2022-23 season even after a barrage of incoming players and outrageous spending in January, earlier this year. The club is now looking to sell non-required players and cash into their current value. Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is one of them as the 2021 Best FIFA Goalkeeper seems to be on his way to Al Ahli in the Saudi Pro League.

As reported by a well renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano, the goalkeeper has agreed personal terms with the club and the negotiations between the two clubs are at the final stages. Mendy will join on a three-year deal and his salary is still undetermined. Along with Mendy, teammates Kalidou Koulibaly and Hakim Ziyech are also on their way to join the Saudi League as all deals are at the final stages.

According to reports, Tottenham were eying Mendy’s signature and viewing him as the potential successor to Hugo Lloris but seemingly the player has decided to go the other way. This move brings an end to a successful period for Mendy at the club, winning the Champions League and keeping an all-time record of nine clean sheets throughout the tournament.

Talking more about Mendy, his European exploits won him Senegal's Player of the Year award in 2021, and he also has winners' medals in the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup under his belt from his time in the English capital.
