Virender Sehwag was one of the most destructive batters of his time. The opening batter feared no bowler and took on the opposition right from the first ball. However, Sehwag was also criticized for his attitude sometimes. Many claimed that the batter always played for himself and not the team. Nevertheless, such criticism did not affect the batter as he played with the same attitude throughout his career.

The opening batter also played a pivotal role in India’s 2011 World Cup victory. Sehwag used to provide blistering starts ensuring other batters did not bother too much about the runs. The batter opening his and the team’s account with a boundary was one of the memorable things for fans. However, Sehwag has made a startling revelation that might raise questions on his mindset towards the team.

As KL Rahul did not take a review against the Netherlands after he was adjudged LBW by the on-field umpire, Sehwag said he was surprised to see that. The former India cricketer said that if he would have been there, he would have definitely challenged the decision even if he was not confident about it. Sehwag then gave an example of how he made a strange rule during the 2011 World Cup.

Sehwag revealed that before the tournament started, he made it clear to his teammates that he will be using one of the two reviews available whenever he was adjudged out LBW. “Ek KL Rahul hai, agar vo DRS le lete toh vo bhi run banaate. Out nahi thi vo, unhone pata nahi kyun nahi liya. (If KL Rahul had taken a DRS, he would have scored runs. He wasn't out, I don't know why he didn't take a review),” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

“Maine rule banaaya tha 2011 me, agar mere pad pe ball lagi toh main toh lunga hi lunga. Tum logon ke liye ek hai. Ek mere liye hai, baaki 10 players ke liye e k. Tum decide kar lena ki kab lena hai, maine toh le liya hai ek. (I made a rule during the 2011 World Cup that if the ball struck my pad, I will take the review. The rest of the team had only one review, and one review was reserved for me.)”
