England tennis player Emma Raducanu has taken the Dubai wildcard which provides her entry to the Dubai Tennis Championship’s main draw, where her endeavours will put full stop to her losing phase which is going on for a while. The youngster faced her fourth defeat in a row for the first time in her career after her loss to Russia’s Ekaterina Alexanderova at the Qatar Open.
Raducanu’s loss from the 26th ranked Alexandrova came in the first round of the Qatar Open before the star Russian player grabbed a lot of eyeballs after hammering world No 1. Aryna Sabalenka. The Dubai Championship is WTA 1000 tournament which means Raducanu might get stiff competition from world's top 10 players who are scheduled to be in action.
Jane O’Donoghue and Yatuka Nakumara join Raducanu again
Raducanu, who won the 2021 US Open, will work with mentor Jane O’Donoghue and fitness trainer Yutaka Nakamura after parting ways with Nick Cavaday in January 2025. Earlier, the 22-year-old British accepted the wildcard entries into the main draw from Abu Dhabi and Qatar Open but got defeats in the first round of both competitions.
The young British tennis star wants to be patient while appointing the next coach for herself. She said her next coach will be the seventh of her brief career and it’s essential to choose the right person for the position.
"It’s a decision that I want to take my time with. I think that's why I haven't necessarily jumped into something straight away, because I want to make sure it's a right fit. And I think this period where I don't necessarily have someone is going to tell me a lot. It's going to teach me a lot, what I want, what I don't want to look for in the next person. So I think I'm using this time period to just figure out what I really value. I'm not too sure yet right now. I haven't come to any plans or decisions. So yeah, I'm just taking it, using the next couple weeks to see how I feel, and then make a decision," Raducanu said recently.
