On the whole- 14 matches, only seven wins and six defeats with one game, unfortunately, ending in a no result. That would have stung endlessly! Especially now in the context of where the PBKS end up on the IPL table. The Punjab Kings, at this point in time, seem like a team that would be exiting the IPL only on a sour note. Things haven’t quite gone their way. And they would certainly have loved to punch above their weight. But here’s what stands out in terms of the devastation of their loss –

The team that seemed at the initial the stages of the IPL competition in 2026 completely indefatigable, tireless and playing to unmatched potential ends the very competition in abject surrender.

So what happened? Where did it all go wrong and what reasons could be possibly tied to their ill fated campaign, else, how would you dub their current season?

For a team that played so admirably, consistently, putting to proper excellence their execution in terms of the entire game plan, it hurts to see Punjab Kings end up the way they have. You have to feel gutted for them. Whether you are a fan of the side or not- here’s what stings the most:

This was a team that created an IPL record for itself and for the entirety of the season up to this point about chasing the highest run score in 2026, also a personal best feat for them. Forget not, they ended up scoring 264 against Delhi and won that contest. A memorable feat.

However, what’s not so memorable is the heartbreaking comments that are coming their way as seen on social media. And it’s not just Shreyas Iyer who would be feeling desolate; it’s the entirety of their fan club.

Most recently the legendary Indian all rounder Yuvraj Singh, also a former Punjab player in the IPL had the following comment to make with a picture that had Harpreet Brar, Priyansh Arya and Arshdeep Singh.

And Yuvraj said- in terms of the literal translation of the words- that it was time that the constantly social media obsessed players of the PBKS should be subjected to a few blows. Now while the statement was but of course shared in lighter vein, but nonetheless, it carried a hint of frustration.

Frustration about the very fact that for a team that is so critical in the IPL and and such a talented unit ended up on the table, where it did, which is completely unlike Punjab’s calibre and overall skill set.

While taking a day off or unwinding amongst the group is also important and something that balances out the level of competition, what’s also important is to stay focused and play in a committed manner.

Perhaps the Punjab players lost their way somewhere and weren’t really up to the task where it came to on field performances despite having loads of undoubtable talent. And that hurts and will for some time to come. When the pain is evident on someone like Yuvraj Singh’s end, it might echo the same suffering being felt by the rest of their fans as well!
