The great and iconic Jasprit Bumrah is more ofen than not, tasked with creating magic. That's when he gets going. Adversitites tend to bring the best out of a bowler who's considered the best. And he really is. Even at Headingley, he claimed a fifer in the very first bowling chance in India's first bowling innings.

But with added pressure, comes the risk of burning out, which is why currently, it is being said that Jasprit Bumrah may not play the second Test.

Now if that is the case, which other bowlers can be tried and can be included into the playing XI?

Below are the three possible replacements for Jasprit Bumrah in Team India's playing XI:

1. Kuldeep Yadav kuldeep yadav 1

A talented, charismatic, and a serious spin talent, Yadav is clearly one of the finest and most talked-about spin talents currently in the game can be an actual asset for Team India at this point in time

This especially comes at a time where India are trying desperately to find a way to come back in this contest against England having lost the opening game.

Having already taken 56 test wickets from just 13 games with a vital 3-for in the last contest he played, Kuldeep may seem the guy who takes time to create magic with the ball but when he does, it speak for itself. In the event of Bumrah not playin, an added spinner like Yadav can also aid Jadeja and both can then attack in tandem.

2. Arshdeep Singh

And that’s the third big ‘third’ that India needs at this time.

Doesn’t it?

A combination of the natural angle and the uncanniness that left handers offer to batters to probe and disturb their technique is exactly what Arshdeep- lanky and fit- brings to the table.

Thus far, the left arm seamer who has the ability to generate natural bounce has claimed 113 international wickets for India and is raring to go.

At 26, his best days in the sport are ahead of him. Second, he’s passionate about Test cricket, the format in which he’s going to excel. That’s the belief of the team as also a mark of his self confidence.

Moreover, Arshdeep has played for the Kent County Cricket Club back in 2023, wherein in Division 1, he took 13 wickets. That was largely a canvass to help Arshdeep’s talent grow and prosper. It was nice because there was the familiarity of England. The crucial element needed urgently now!

There’s potential. Undoubtedly so. Maybe these next few Tests can further expand Arshdeep’s craft and help him blossom.

3. Akash Deep

akash deep handed 15 day rest out of icc champions trophy 2025 contention A promising cricketer who’s brimming with talent and potential, the Edgbaston Test could actually be the occasion where one of India’s rated young fast bowler may get to play the five day contest where the next game stands.

However, that will only come true if Jasprit Bumrah, an icon of fast bowling, sits out of the eleven poised to take the field. Why Akashdeep plays is simple. It is down to two main reasons. Thus far, from 7 test matches, he’s taken 15 wickets and has been known to cause a bit of damage when the ball is old. At Edgbaston, he might support Krishna and Siraj who could open the bowling for India should Bumrah miss out.

And second, as a first change bowler, Akashdeep Singh, who’s played away tests in the West Indies is somewhere understanding of the challenge that comes from playing away from India. He’s young but focused. Can that be used to India’s advantage? Moreover, his best figures- at this point- have come against England, who’ll be his opponents.

That’s from the only contest he’s played against them. A three-for back then. But what about now?
