The Shubman Gill-led Team India has resumed their practice ahead of the second Test against England, which is scheduled to be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham from Wednesday, July 2 onwards. The Men in Blue will hope to get back stronger in order to level the series after they were handed a five-wicket defeat in the opening Test of the five-match series in Leeds despite putting up 835 runs across the two innings.
However, the batters will walk out with a positive intent after five centuries came from the Indian lineup, they will have to do a lot of work on the field, when it comes to the bowlers and the fielding effort. As they set their eyes on the next Test, Team India got into intense practice session on Saturday, June 28.
Jasprit Bumrah bowls full tilt; Gill, Pant and KL miss optional training
On the second day of the practice session, Indian spearhead Jasprit Bumrah returned to nets, bowling full tilt after he missed the first practice session on Friday. As per videos shared by Times of India, Bumrah was joined by Mohammed Siraj as they bowled in full intensity for at least 30 minutes. Later, Siraj also turned up to bat.
Sai Sudharsan, who had a forgettable debut in Test cricket, was also hitting hard in the nets. However, the likes of Rishabh Pant, captain Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul were absent from the practice.
Furthermore, it has to be noted that Siraj and Bumrah batting in the nets also came after the tailenders struggled to get runs on the board. The Men in Blue saw the last seven wickets fall in just only 41 runs in the first innings, whereas in the second innings, last six were dismissed of just 31 runs.
