Manchester United will return to UEFA Europa League 2022-23 on October 27 to face Moldovan club Sheriff Tiraspol at the Old Trafford. Ahead of the Thursday's match, Man United head coach Erik ten Hag has given major updates about star forward Cristiano Ronaldo's return to the squad and defender Raphael Varane's injury.

During Man United's match against Tottenham last Thursday, the 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo, who was an unused sub, headed towards the tunnel before the match was ended. The English club released a statement next day that the forward would not travel to the Stamford Bridge for United's clash against Chelsea.

However, Erik ten Hag has asserted that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner will return to the squad for their upcoming UEL clash against Sheriff. While talking at his pre-match conference, Ten Hag said,  "Yes, Cristiano will be in the squad on Thursday."

"I think we said everything and answered all the questions. He was out for one game and now he is back in the squad as usual.  It's done. He's back. Let's focus on the game," he added.

Erik ten Hag gives update on Raphael Varane's injury:

French defender Raphael Varane walked off in tears during Manchester United's clash against Chelsea on October 22 as he suffered an injury while trying to win the ball from the Blues forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

In his pre-match conference, Erik ten Hag provided update on Varane's FIFA World Cup 2022 hopes and said,  "Raphael Varane isn't in the squad. He will be out, certainly, until the World Cup.

"He will not play in this block for Manchester United. I think he can play in the World Cup, but we have to see how it develops and how his rehab develops."

Before the Qatar World Cup 2022 break,  Manchester United will play six games including three Premier League, two Europa League and one EFL Cup matches.
