Erling Haaland’s strike in the 95th minute of the Manchester City vs Arsenal Premier League game last night took his overall Premier League goal tally of the season to 33 goals. The Norwegian striker has now surpassed Mohammed Salah’s record of 32 goals which he achieved in 2017-18 to become the record holder for the most goals in a 38-match Premier League season.

Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer hold the current record for most goals in a Premier League season at 34 goals, but that record was set when there used to be 42 matches per team. Erling Haaland still has seven games remaining in the season to set this record straight.

The 22-year-old forward began the season with 18 goals in his first 13 Premier League Appearance, which consisted of hat-tricks against Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, and Manchester United. The youngster has found a perfect partner in crime in Kevin De Bruyne as the two have complimented each other very well. Haaland’s main strength is his incredible finishing skills inside the box.

Across all the competitions, Haaland has scored 49 goals for Manchester City in the 2022-23 season alone. He is the leading goal scorer in the UEFA Champions League with 12 goals to his name. He is followed by Mo Salah, who is four goals behind him at eight goals.

Since his signing for Manchester City in May 2022, he has been a priceless asset to the club. The player continues to break records at the young age of 22 years.
