Chennai Super Kings are currently taking on Punjab Kings in number 49 of IPL 2025 at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It is a do-or-die encounter for CSK to keep their playoff hopes alive and also a crucial game for PBKS after their last game got washed out due to rain. Ahead of the important clash, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl first.

CSK didn’t make any change in their playing XI from the last game while PBKS have made one change as their star-rounder Glenn Maxwell couldn’t make it to the playing XI. Shreyas Iyer revealed that the Australian cricketer has an fractures finger and will be not be seen playing against PBKS. “Unfortunate that he's got a fractured finger (Maxwell). Haven't decided on a replacement so far,” Iyer said at the toss.

Home advantage is very important which we haven't been able to capitalise on: MS Dhoni

The five-time champions CSK are having a tough time in the ongoing season where they lost seven matches so far, with five losses coming at their own den Chepauk. Speaking at the toss, CSK skipper MS Dhoni also reflected on CSK’s poor outing at their home venue. “Home advantage is very important which we haven't been able to capitalise on. Same team. We've been a side where we don't make a lot of changes. But this season we've made a lot of changes. Reason is simple. If most of your players are doing well, then you chop and change 1-2 players. But this season it hasn't worked for us,” Dhoni said.
