After the Q3, George Russell took the first pole position of his Formula One career as he shocked Ferrari pair of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc. World Championship leader Max Verstappen aborted his final attempt at a flying lap after a power issue, which took him to the 10th place.

The Q1 and Q2 took place in dry weather. Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel was knocked out in the 18th.

The two Mercedes drivers set the quickest times at the end of Q1, with Lewis Hamilton just ahead of teammate George Russell.

Alfa Romeo’s Zhou Guanyu in the 12th, and the most surprising of them all was Red Bull’s Sergio Perez, who got eliminated after finishing in the 11th .
