After the Manchester United co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his advisers at INEOS, conducted the season review, it was reportedly decided that Erik ten Hag will stay as the manager of the club. Upon hearing the news, Paul Scholes was pleased about the “bit of continuity” at Manchester United before stating that the fans deserve better from the manager and the team next season.
Notably, Erik ten Hag is currently under a contract with Manchester United, which runs till 2025, but his future at the club was uncertain due to the indifferent performances from the team during the 2023-24 campaign. There were rumours in the media about the Dutchman getting sacked from the managerial role at the club.
But, the season review at Manchester United concluded that the couple of trophies in the last two seasons, the development of young players, coupled with the professionalism and dignity shown by Erik ten Hag during his managerial tenure is enough for him to continue in the job. Furthermore, the negotiations over a new contract with the 54-year-old, to stay as manager of Manchester United have begun as well.
Paul Scholes took to his official Instagram account to post a story about Manchester United’s reported decision to keep their association with Erik ten Hag. He wrote, “Nice to wake up to this news although I did think [Crystal Palace] away felt like the end. Major improvements [are] needed but at least we have a bit of continuity and don’t have to wait for a new regime to settle in. Fans have given him and the players incredible support and deserve better next season. Bye.”
Moreover, in the recently concluded FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium in London, Manchester United defeated Manchester City 2-1 to win the tournament for the 13th time in their history.
