Indian referees have been subjected to criticism following their poor decision-making in the Indian Super League (ISL) matches. To minimise the on-field blunders by the officials in the football leagues in India, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Kalyan Chaubey has requested FIFA for legendary Italian referee Pierluigi Collina's services to train India officials.
Following several Indian clubs' complaints over poor refereeing and the cancellation of VARLite's introduction to the league due to the production budget, the AIFF President has sought FIFA head of referees' services to help the Indian officials improve their refereeing.

The Times of India quoted Kalyan Chaubey as saying, "For the last few matches (in the ISL), there have been refereeing errors, and despite our efforts, I feel improvements are required. Indian referees are making human errors. I understand it's a thankless job but their mistakes can cost teams a trophy, perhaps another opportunity to play international football."
During the 141st Congress of the Indian Olympic Committee's Executive Board meeting in Mumbai, Chaubey requested FIFA President Gianni Infantino to help Indian football improve its officials by training them. Chaubey added, "The FIFA President was on the same page with me. I have requested him to send Pierluigi Collina to India for training sessions and his presence here could help a great deal. The FIFA President has agreed."
Apart from Collina, former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who is the FIFA chief of global football development, is also expected to arrive in India next month as many reports claimed the French former manager and the legendary Italian referee will visit together.
