The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 is reaching its climax, as Spain and England will face each other in the final on Sunday, August 20 at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney, Australia. This is the first time that either side has qualified for the FIFA Women's World Cup final.
Spain defeated Sweden in an exciting match to secure a spot in the finals of the grand event. Salma Paralluelo, the youngest player, gave Spain a 1-0 lead in the 81st minute, but Rebecka Blomqvist equalized in the 88th. With the winning goal in the 89th minute, Olga Carmona gave her country a 2-1 victory.
England beat Australia 3-1 in the other semi-final, with goals from Ellen White, Lucy Bronze, and Fran Kirby. The World Cup might come home after all for the English fans, as the Lionesses are looking good with defender Alex Greenwood having a terrific campaign along with Keira Walsh, who has been instrumental in the midfield.
