The Harmanpreet Singh-led Team India is on fire at the ongoing FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023. The team started with a 2-0 win over Spain on Day 1 (January 13) of the seventeen-day tournament, followed by a goalless draw against Pool D table-toppers England. In their third and final Pool match against Wales on January 19, India with a 4-2 win with their search on for the quarterfinals berth. The Graham Reid coached side will now lock horns with New Zealand in the crossover match to seal the berth in the quarterfinals as they eye to end their 48-year trophy drought.

The Harmanpreet Singh-led side is currently ranked sixth in the world, are placed in Pool D along with England, Spain and Wales. They will now face New Zealand on Thursday (January 22) at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar. The Kiwis are coming after a 2-3 loss against Malaysia and are placed third in the Pool C points table with three points.
