Former Australian cricketer Stuart MacGill has been arrested after he was found guilty in a drug deal. The legendary Test cricketer was booked in Sydney after an investigation that took place after his kidnapping in 2021. According to the authorities, the ex-cricketer has been charged in an alleged commercial deal of cocaine. MacGill came under the scrutiny of the investigators in April 2021 after he was reportedly kidnapped outside his home.
The retired cricketer has been charged for knowingly being involved in the supply of the drug in large quantities. Though the Aussie is yet to enter a plea, he has been denying the allegations over and over again. The 52-year-old has been released on a bail and is ordered to return to the court on October 26.
MacGill, who represented Australia in 44 Test matches, told police in April 2021 that he was abducted from his home in Sydney. Not only this, but he also said that he was taken to an abandoned place and was beaten and tortured. Later after police’s investigation, six people were booked, which involved his then partner’s brothers.
The ex-cricketer represented the Baggy Greens in the longest format of the game and played during the reign of Shane Warne. Not only this, but he has been regarded as one of the best bowlers in the history of Australian cricket. In addition to it, Gill was also named as the second-best bowler in the world after his teammate late Shane Warne.
