Reggie Chaney, the former basketball player of Houston and Arkansas, died at the age of 23, on August 21, Monday. The cause of the death is yet to be ascertained as per the reports circulating in the media.

After being born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Reggie Chaney went on to play basketball in Nevada and Texas during his high school years, as per the Sportskeeda report. Then, he pursued the next stage of his career for Arkansas Razorbacks from 2018 to 2020 before getting the transfer to the Houston Cougars.

In his three seasons for the team, Chaney managed to reach the final four of the NCAA tournament in 2021, while entering the 2023 season as the first seed. He was also named the sixth man of the year by the American Athletic Conference, after the last season had finished.

The loss for Houston against Miami in the Sweet 16 was quite a painful loss for the 23-year-old, but it was not as painful as the feeling of ending his basketball career at the collegiate level. He said, “The loss isn't the biggest thing. Not seeing these guys every day, not playing with these guys on the court ever again, not putting the Houston jersey on, that's what hurts really bad.”

Before his untimely death, Reggie Chaney was set to join the professional basketball team AE Psychiko, in Greece, as per the report from Houston Chronicle. On behalf Chandra Chaney and Reggie Lee, the parents, a GoFundMe page has been set up by Sarah Stevens to help them pay the expenses that might come from his funeral service and more.
