Former India spinner turned commentator Laxman Sivaramakrishnan issued a public apology to all CSK fans for his distasteful remarks on Chennai Super Kings pacer Deepak Chahar. Chahar’s name has been doing rounds on social media as the pacer hasn’t made it to the field owing to a back injury and is currently undergoing rehabilitation. Due to this, Chahar continues to remain absent from the ground in the 16th season of the Indian Premier League.

On April 20, the right-arm pacer shared a positive update on his comeback, sharing a glimpse of him bowling in the net on his Instagram handle. However, the next day, his name was part of a joke made at his expense by the former cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, which wasn’t taken well by his Chennai fans. Sivaramakrishnan said that he expects Chahar to be the top run-getter in CSK’s next clash against RR, even though it was confirmed that he won’t be taking the field.

He joked about Chahar in a response to a query posted by CSK’s former batter Subramanium Badrinath on his Twitter asking fans about their opinion during Chennai’s game. Laxman, in return, said Chahar’s name which triggered several CSK fans.

Fans, in return, demanded an apology from him, to which he, respecting their emotions, issued a public apology saying it was a part of his regular humorous conversation with commentator Badrinath.

The apology said, " To all  @CskIPLTeam . Me and Badrinath have these kind of vague and contradictory humorous exchanges on the golf course. I should not joked on Twitter. CSK is as much my favourite team like yours. Apologies"
