Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq undergoes angioplasty after suffering heart attack

Former Pakistan captain and legendary batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq was rushed to hospital after suffering a heart attack on Monday. Inzamam is currently hospitalised in Lahore where he underwent a successful angioplasty after suffering the heart attack. His agent has informed the media that Inzamam’s condition is now stable but he remains under observation.

Notably, Inzamam was suffering from chest pain over the last three days. According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, initial testing cleared him but tests on Monday revealed that he had suffered a heart attack. Thereafter, Inzamam was rushed to the hospital for surgery. His agent informed that a stent has been placed in Inzamam's heart.

The legendary batsman is one of Pakistan's leading run scorers in ODIs and Test cricket. Inzamam-ul-Haq  scored 8830 runs in 120 Tests. In ODIs, he is Pakistan's highest run-getter with 11,739 runs from 378 matches. He smashed 10 centuries and 83 half-centuries in ODIs while he scored 25 Test centuries and 46 half-centuries in Test cricket. Having retired from the international cricket in 2007, he has also worked as a batting consultant. He also held the Pakistan chief selector post from 2016 to 2019.

Wishes pour in for Inzamam's speedy recovery

The cricket fraternity took to social media and hoped for Inzamam's speedy recovery. Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle tweeted, “Wishing Inzamam-ul-Haq all the very best, that he recovers completely and remains part of our game for many many years.” Meanwhile, former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed wrote, "Prayers for @Inzamam08 bhai for speedy recovery In shaa Allah he will be fine."
