Alpine driver Fernando Alonso was recently spotted having a chat with Red Bulls chiefs Christian Horner and Helmut Marko in the Red bull motorhome prior to Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying. As per the picture doing the rounds on the internet, Alonso appeared calm and composed as he visibly shared smiles with Red Bull chiefs and Max Verstappen's manager Rayon Vermeulen sitting alongside him.
Notably, Alonso is under contract with Alpine until the end of the 2023 season, by which he will be 42 years old. Despite his age, the Spaniard is able to compete at the highest level with a lot of grace scoring 71 Championship points this season, levelling him ninth in the standings. Earlier, Alonso has clearly hinted that he plans to race in F1 for a few more years before turning his attention elsewhere.
"I hope to be in Formula One for at least two or three more years. I think I am one hundred percent. And then, from there, a challenge that I have never hidden is to try the Darkar again," Alonso said recently.
While reigning champion Max Verstappen is not likely to leave Red Bull anytime soon after two successful seasons, Max teammate Sergio Perez too had a stunning season as he sits second in the Driver's Championship, and also has two years remaining on his current deal.
But still, several Formula One fans floated a number of conspiracy theories claiming Alonso moving to Red Bulls or their junior team Alpha Tauri.
