In a big update around the motorsport circuit, the Formula 2 and Formula 3 will not be adding any new race to the ongoing 2023 calendar. Earlier there were talks if a new race should be added, following the calling off of Imola Grand Prix. It is to be noted that the Imola GP, which was the fifth race of the season, was called off after severe flooding in the city of Italy.

FIA in the latest update confirmed this update and added that the Formula 2 season will have 13 races, while the Formula 3 calendar will feature only nine races in 2023.

FI Formula 2 and Formula 3 CEO Bruno Michel also opened up on this update as he also apologized for not having the race in Imola this year. “Firstly, I am sorry that we could not race to Imola this year, but obviously this was the right decision, and our thoughts are with those who have been affected.”

“Since then, we have looked at several options, but ultimately, we have decided that we will not add a new venue to this year’s calendar. With a total of 13 F2 rounds and nine F3 events, I believe we still have enough races to deliver two amazing and competitive seasons,” he further added.

The next F2 race will take place at the Red Bull Ring from 30 June - 2 July, whereas the F3 will also take at the same venue in what is their sixth round of the season.
