It has been two years since India registered a historic win against Australia at what they call the fortress -The Gabba. Fighting against all odds- from injuries to half-a-dozen debutants- India beat the Tim Paine-led team by three wickets to retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy. There were so many heroes for India in that series and even in that last Test at The Gabba.
While Rishabh Pant provided the finishing touches by hitting Josh Hazlewood for a boundary, it was Shubman Gill who laid the foundation with his valiant knock of 91. Cheteshwar Pujara had also taken a series of blows on his body to ensure Australia don’t take a lead. In the first innings, Washington Sundar (62) and Shardul Thakur (67) had helped India avoid conceding a big lead.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj had taken a five-wicket haul in the second innings to bundle Australia for 294. It was a series to remember for the Indians as they had bounced back from 36 all out to win it 2-1.
Now, as the fans and the Indian cricket team celebrates the second anniversary of the famous win, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared an exclusive video from the Indian dressing room. BCCI has shared a video showing Ravi Shastri’s speech before the players. The then-head coach is seen lauding every star performer individually.
Shastri starts with Shubman Gill and goes on to hail everyone from Cheteshwar Pujara to Rishabh Pant, Shardul Thakur, and T Natarajan. Shastri also lauds the efforts put in by the support staff. The former India cricketer then praises Ajinkya Rahane for leading the team to victory despite so many adversaries. In the end, Shastri asks the players to enjoy the moment to its fullest.
“Remember what you guys have done today. You need to enjoy this moment. Don’t just let it go away. Enjoy it as much as you can,” says Shastri.
Notably, there has been already a docu-series made on this entire series under the name “bandon me tha dum”.
