Pakistan suffered a shocking defeat against Zimbabwe on Thursday. The loss has now put Pakistan's hope of qualifying for semi-final in mud. Post this defeat, several former Pakistani cricketers slammed the Men in Green and questioned the team selection. Former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram also criticised the team selection and questioned Babar Azam's captaincy.

Akram said that the team should have picked Shoaib Malik for the World Cup 2022 due to his experience in the middle-order. However, in doing so, the legendary pacer used a wrong phrase to vouch for Malik's inclusion. During the conversation after the loss, Wasim said, "Main agar captain hota, mera end goal World Cup jeetna hai aur use liye mujhe gadhe ko bhi baap bnana pade, main bna lunga. Agar mujhe Shoaib Malik chahiye middle main, toh I will make sure to chairman and selectors that I get him."

Translation: If I was the captain, my end goal would be to win the World Cup, and for that If I have to make donkey my father, I would do.

Malik, who was sitting in front of Wasim had a confused reaction to Wasim's statement.
