While Denis Shapovalov overcame a tight battle against Pablo Cuevas on Friday to secure a 6-4, 7-5 win and register a place in the final of the 2021 Geneva Open, Norway's Casper Ruud continued his good run of form and stitched a comfortable over Pablo Andujar in the other semifinal which set up the titular clash. Here is all you need to know about the clash.

Head to Head:

Notably, this will be the first meeting between Denis Shapovalov and Casper Ruud in their careers. At the moment there head to head stat stands at 0-0 but one will obviously be the happier of the two and will not only lead this race but will get his hands on the Geneva Open Trophy.

Preview:

Rudd is having a successful clay court season so far, having previously reached the semifinals of the Madrid and Monte Carlo. The 22-year-old has registered wins over some of the experienced campaigners like Stefanos Tsitsipas, Diego Schwartzman and Pablo Carreno Busta this year and would be determined to make a mark here.

On the other hand, Shapovalov, had shown a bit of a slump in form before the match against Rafael Nadal where he took the Spaniard to three sets in Rome. The Canadian even held match point in the decider before going down in the eventual tie-breaker. His performance against a champion like Rafa seems to have given him the confidence to do well.

Pre-match favourite:

Both players have played some of the best tennis leading up to the summit clash which suggests this could be a blockbuster of a clash. But only since the game is happening at a red clay surface, Rudd starts as the pre-match favourite.
