With the start of the Olympics less than a week away, the teams are in their final stages of preparations. The German and Honduras football teams were scheduled to play their final friendly game before the start of the Olympics. The game was a 90 minutes game. However, just five minutes before the final whistle, the game was called off after a player of the German team was racially abused. The match came to an abrupt end on Saturday when the team walked off the field because of alleged racist abuse directed at 23-year-old Hertha Berlin defender Jordan Torunarigha.

This is not the first time Jordan has faced some kind of racial abuse. During the last season at a game away at Schalke, the Hertha BSC player was reportedly racially abused.

England’s Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho also faced racial abuse

After Italy’s win against England in the Euro 2020 final, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford & Jadon Sancho and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka were subject to a lot of online abuse as the trio missed their spot-kicks during the penalties. The whole football community came together in their support after this incident.

Several incidents of racism have marred European football in recent years and no strict actions have been taken against this.
