In the 23rd match of the 2025 IPL season at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad between the Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals, the hosts came out with a comprehensive 58 runs victory against the Royals. The victory marks the fourth consecutive win for GT as they propelled to the top of the table with eight points. For RR, the loss comes as a halt to their momentum as they had won their last two matches and were hoping to carry that winning form. Their position in the table remains unchanged however, as they have acquired four points in five games so far.

In a thrilling IPL 2025 clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium on April 9, Gujarat Titans lit up the evening with a commanding batting display, posting 217/6 in their 20 overs against Rajasthan Royals. Sai Sudharsan was the star of the innings, anchoring with a brilliant 82 off 53 balls, combining composure with timely aggression. He found excellent support from Shahrukh Khan, who smashed a lively 36 off just 20 deliveries to propel GT past the 200-run mark. All-rounder Rahul Tewatia also added a handy 12 ball 24* towards the end to contribute to the total. Gujarat’s innings was built on steady partnerships and an explosive finish, as RR’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs.

Shimron Hetmyer's half-centruy goes in vain as RR suffer 58-run defeat

The chase was highly unsuccessful for RR as they failed to build a solid foundation. Skipper Sanju Samson was able to stich together 41 runs but failed to receive any support on the other end from his team-mates making it a shaky affair. A 48-run partnership with Riyan Parag on the third wicket brought some hope for the side but it soon faded off as Parag was dismissed in the seventh over by impact player Kulwant Khejroliya. A late 52-run knock from Shimron Hetmyer went in vain as they team failed to get close to the target.

Prasidh Krishna was instrumental in the bowling department for GT as he picked up three crucial wickets of skipper Sanju Samson, Jofra Archer and the dangerous Hetmyer in his spell. Looking ahead, the Gujarat Titans will be travelling to take on the Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday while Rajasthan Royals will return to their home turf to come up against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
