The Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya has been handed a fine worth INR 24 Lakh after his team was found maintaining slow over-rate during IPL 2024 Match 48. The Hardik Pandya-led side travelled to Lucknow to play against the KL Rahul-led side at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday, April 30.
However, the MI failed to defend the total, eventually losing the match by four wickets to continue their losing streak in the tournament. After their loss, the skipper was further handed a blow with the IPL handing him INR 24 Lakh fine. “Mr Hardik Pandya, captain, Mumbai Indians has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 48 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on April 30, 2024,” IPL’s official statement read.
“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pandya was fined INR 24 Lac,” it further stated.
It is to be noted that even the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player were handed a fine, where each individually will be fined either INR 6 Lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.
The Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI), who are placed ninth in the points table with three wins and seven losses, will next take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday, May 3.
