Former Inter Milan captain and current Vice-President Javier Zanetti has recently slammed Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku for "betraying" the Serie A giants. After a failed season at Chelsea and his return to the Nerazzurri on loan last season, Lukaku is reportedly in talks with Italian club Juventus, which has enraged Zanetti.
In 2021, Lukaku joined Premier League giants Chelsea from Inter Milan for a £97.5 million transfer fee. After playing a dismal season at the English side, where he scored 15 goals and made two assists in 44 games across all competitions, Lukaku was loaned back to Inter. Last season, the Belgian striker helped the Italian club to reach the UEFA Champions League final, which they lost against treble-winner Manchester City.

In a recent interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, printed on page four of Wednesday morning’s edition, Zanetti slammed Lukaku for his unprofessional behaviour and said, "Given what Inter has done for him, we expected him to behave differently, as a professional and as a man. He has the right to go where he wants, of course, but he could have told us that beforehand."
He added, "Nobody is bigger than the club and when building a team, you always have to consider who you are bringing into the dressing room."
Meanwhile, Lukaku has been reportedly in talks with Juventus after making 37 appearances for Inter last season across all competitions. From his 37 matches, Lukaku started off the bench in 17 games while he scored a total of 14 goals and made seven assists for the club.
