Things do not seem at its best in Pakistan cricket and an instance was seen when former Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie slammed his successor Aaqib Javed. The comments from Gillespie came after the defending champions and hosts of ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 failed to got past the group stage, registering back-to-back losses.
Moreover, the Pakistan head coach, Aaqib Javed had blamed instability in the team and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the team’s exit from the marquee tournament. But days after Javed’s comments, the former head coach hit back at the remarks while calling the former Pakistan cricketer “a clown”.

Jason Gillespie took to the new platform of Instagram, Threads to react of Aaqib Javed’s remarks. “This is hilarious. Aaqib was clearly undermining Gary and I behind the scenes, campaigning to be coach in all formats. He is a clown,” Gillespie wrote on Threads. The former Aussie pacer claimed that it was a little rich of Javed to blame “instability”, knowing that he himself had gone behind Gary Kristen and Gillespie.
It is to be noted that Gary Kristen and Jason Gillespie served as Pakistan Test and white-ball coaches, but their tenures came to an abrupt end. After Kristen stepped down from the position, Gillespie also handed over the role. Later, Aaqib Javed was named the interim coach of the Pakistan national team’s setup across formats.
