Ace Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been a lone warrior for India in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy down under. The right-arm pacer is currently the highest wicket taker of the series with 21 scalps in three matches. Recently, Australia’s fast bowling legend Brett Lee also heaped praise on the star Indian pacer for his performance with the ball in recent times.
Brett Lee termed Jasprit Bumrah as a ‘world class bowler’ and also said that he is far far away from any of the bowler of the current generation. "He is world class, Jasprit Bumrah. Unfortunately, they had no Mohammed Shami, but I think the backing of Mohammed Siraj—there has been a bit of conjecture around him—but I think he has bowled really well," Lee was quoted as saying by Crictracker.
Jasprit Bumrah becomes leading wicket taker in WTC 2023-25 cycle
Jasprit Bumrah had a great time on the field in the year 2024. He was adjudged player of the tournament in India’s T20 World Cup triumph in June. Apart from that, Bumrah also became the leading wicket taker in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle from 2023 to 2025. The fast bowler has taken 66 scalps from 13 matches in the ongoing WTC cycle so far. Along with this, Bumrah is also the highest wicket taker across all formats in 2024 taking 77 scalps in 20 matches.
“In my opinion, they have an attack that has some good pace bowlers, but the reason why people say or think he is shouldering the whole load of the attack is that he is so good. He (Bumrah) is miles ahead of any other bowler, and that is no disrespect to the other bowlers going around, but that is how good he is,” Brett Lee further said.
