Karachi Kings (KK) owner Salman Iqbal has extended his support to Peshawar Zalmi’s captain Babar Azam, who is struggling with his form in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025. Appearing in a couple of matches for Zalmi, the 30-year-old has scored only one run at an average of 0.50. His underwhelming performance has also impacted Peshawar’s performance as the team is downbeat after facing crushing defeats at the hands of Quetta Gladiators and defending champions Islamabad United. Against both sides, Peshawar’s batting unit performed miserably after the early dismissals of their captain.

However, during the lean patch, Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal has strived to bolster Pakistan’s star player’s confidence. The 51-year-old said that when Babar regains his form, he will surpass Virat Kohli or any other batter in the cricketing world. He also added that the former Pakistan captain will match with the ranks of iconic cricketing figures such as Sir Vivian Richards and Gary Sobers. Appearing on an ARY podcast, he remarked, "When Babar Azam makes a comeback again, he will be a bigger player than any other player in the world, including Virat Kohli. He will be matched with names like Gary Sobers and Sir Viv Richards.”

Peshawar and Multan Sultans will chase their first win in their clash against each other

Peshawar’s next contest is against Multan Sultans at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on April 19. Both teams will look to taste their first victory after the match as they are yet to win their maiden game in the competition. Sultans lost to Karachi Kings and reigning champions Islamabad United.

Multan are holding the fifth spot on the points table while Peshawar are placed at the bottom of the tally with their disheartening performances. However, unlike Zalmi’s captain Babar, Multan skipper Mohammad Rizwan has looked in fine touch with his bat. The wicket-keeper batter has hoarded 143 runs in two matches at a strike rate of 143.00.
