Barcelona FC's Sporting Director Deco was in awe while discussing the teenager Lamine Yamal’s future. Yamal is one of the most-discussed talents in the world of football and has achieved immense success, winning Kopa Trophy and Golden Boy awards as the best player under the age of 21 in Europe. Recently, Pedri, Gavi, and Araujo also got extension until 2031 and Deco has thereafter emphasised on showing faith in young guns to make the Spanish league’s second-most successful side a potent force.
"There are key players, and he is. There is no discussion, there is no price. There have been no offers because we didn't even want to talk about it. He will surely be at Barça for many years, like Pedri and Gavi ... They will remain here. The club must do its homework, and he will be here for many years," said Deco while discussing Yamal and three other youngsters Pedro, Gavi, and Araujo.

Following Yamal’s contribution to Spain’s Euro Cup 2024 victory, Barcelona snubbed a 250-million euro offer, claimed the club’s President Joan Laporta. Yamal’s contract with Barca will end in June 2026 but the Spanish football icon has said he will be getting a new contract from the club.
Yamal’s football prowess has received appreciation from legend Cristiano Ronaldo, who feels the youngster is the next big thing in football. Deco, who has played with both stars, Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, also feels Yamal is a unique talent. "Yamal is one of the special ones," Deco said. "Not only does he have talent. He also has a different mental capacity," remarked the 47-year-old.
Yamal has showcased mettle in the ongoing season
Speaking of the youngster's performance, Yamal has scored 11 goals in the ongoing season, with 14 assists in 31 outings for Barcelona. Barcelona are currently placed in the third spot on the La Liga’s 2024-25 points tally, following Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, who are holding the first and second spots respectively. In the ongoing season, Barca have accumulated 48 points with 15 victories off their 23 games, while registering five losses
While discussing their Champions League 2024-25 performance, the club has lost only one contest, and is in the second position with 19 points gained through six wins.
