The Women’s Premier League (WPL) started in 2023 with the match between Mumbai Indians (MI) versus Gujarat Giants (GG) at the DY Patil Stadium and the former was seen racking up 207/5 in their 20 overs and became the first team to hit more than 200 runs in the league. Following the maiden game, cricket fans learnt the league will deliver explosive cricketing action to them with raining sixes and fours.
In the next game, Delhi Capitals (DC) scored 223/2 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Brabourne Stadium and posted their highest WPL total. The inaugural season of the league in 2023 witnessed 200+ team scores four times. In 2024, no side succeeded in surpassing the 200+ scores in any games.
