Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow toyed with the Indian bowling attack as the duo scored an unbeaten 269-run partnership while chasing a mammoth-target of 378 runs.

After dominating the game for the most part, Team India had to settle with a convincing 7-wicket loss. The defeat has also affected the WTC ranking of the Indian Cricket Team as it took India's win percentage to 53.47. India were also penalized two WTC points for maintaining slow over rate. As a result India are down to number 4 with 52.08 win percentage.

Currently, the Men in Blue are below Australia (77.8%), South Africa (71.43), and Pakistan (52.38) in the WTC points table. With six matches remaining, can India still qualify for the WTC 2021-23 final?

Well, if India manages to win all their remaining six matches, they can reach a win percentage of 68.98, which can help them qualify for the WTC final. Team India will play four Test matches against Australia in September-October and two Test matches against Bangladesh in November.
