India will play against the defending champions England in WC 2023 at Lucknow later next month, hence here in this article we will see how the matches in Lucknow have panned out in past ODI World Cups and how team India have performed at this venue in ODIs so far.

Interestingly, the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow has never hosted an ODI World Cup game so far. The 2023 ODI World Cup would host five games in that venue including the India vs England game which will be played on 29th October.

India have played only one ODI match in that venue which was against South Africa in 2022 and ended up losing that game by 9 runs despite a brilliant innings from Sanju Samson.

West Indies won a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan by 3-0 margin which was played at Lucknow venue only.

Indian team played a second-string team against South Africa in the three-match ODI series which happened in October 2022 since the main players focused on playing T20Is only during the T20 World Cup year.

The Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow hosted its first ever ODI game in 2019 with the Afghanistan team using that venue as home ground and that venue has the capacity to accommodate a total of 50,000 people overall.
