Indian star athlete Neeraj Chopra once again rose high in the eyes of the world after he clinched the gold medal at the World Athletics Championships final on late Sunday, August 27 in Budapest, Hungary. The ‘Golden Boy’ of India etched history by becoming the first to win a gold in the event after his own silver medal finish in Oregon in 2022.

 

In picture doing rounds after his historic win, Neeraj Chopra can be seen giving an autograph to a Hungarian fan. While this is not the only story behind this picture, as the fan asked for an autograph on the Indian tricolour but the Indian athlete’s response won several hearts for his gesture. Notably, the Haryana-born athlete refused to sign an autograph on the Indian tricolour but later signed in the lady’s shirt sleeves.

The 25-year-old, who became only the second after Abhinav Bindra to hold an Olympics medal as well as the World Athletics title opened up after this historic feat. In the post-presentation address, Neeraj added that he still has a lot of achieve and has not won all the medals.

 

“I still have a lot to achieve. It’s not as if I have won all these medals so I’ll rest easy. I want to repeat this success year after year. I also want more Indians to join me on the podium. That will be fun,” he stated.

 

Talking about Neeraj’s run at the World Athletics Championships final, the 25-year-old started with a foul but then got 88.17m, 86.32m, 84.64m, 87.73m and 83.98m in his following attempts. While he won the gold, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem finished second with a throw of 87.82m followed by Jakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic completing the top three.
