Former India batter Ambati Rayudu has shattered silence on supporting MS Dhoni in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rayudu often faces criticism on social media sites for praising Dhoni’s efforts in the cash-rich league. The former right-handed batter was part of CSK for five years and under Dhoni’s captaincy, he produced his best IPL performance while debuting for the Yellow Army in 2018. Taking to his X handle, Rayudu hit back at social media users who troll him for displaying support for Dhoni. He also called himself a fan of Thala and added that hate messages on social media can’t change his opinion.

"I was a Thala's fan. I am a Thala's fan. I will always be a Thala's fan. No matter what anyone thinks or does. It will not make a one percent difference. So please stop spending money on paid pr and donate that to charity. Lot of underprivileged people can benefit," wrote Rayudu on X. Dhoni has scored only 103 runs at a strike rate of 153.73 in the ongoing competition. Against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mohali, he came to bat at number five but couldn't take CSK home. While chasing 220 runs, Chennai capitulated to 201 and Dhoni played a knock of 27 off 12.

CSK will host KKR on April 11 in IPL 2025

CSK’s next assignment will be against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Chennai are currently in the ninth spot on the points tally after recording four defeats and only one victory in the competition. The Men in Yellow will have to showcase their mettle against defending champions at home to bounce back.

KKR are also on backfoot under Ajinkya Rahane’s captaincy as they have looked inconsistent, thus far in the season. With two wins and three defeats, Kolkata are holding the sixth spot. They lost their previous game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by four runs at the iconic Eden Gardens.
