The Indian team has sent out a young team for their white-ball tour to New Zealand after the T20 World Cup. One of the most exciting players in the team is Jammu & Kashmir fast bowler Umran Malik, who gained fame in this year’s IPL. He dazzled the cricketing world with extreme pace but now Malik is trying to add new skills to his arsenal.

While speaking in the pre-game interview, Malik expressed that he has been working on his variations and improving his ability to bowl different lengths. He also stated that he is working on some new deliveries and in this process, the coaching staff has been extremely helpful.

“It is always a proud moment for me playing for India. Coming back to the team is very nice. I want to play for India for a long time. I am working on developing new deliveries. Like, I am working on slowers and yorkers for T20s. Also, I am working very well on pitching good-length and hard-length balls. I am enjoying a lot by working alongside the coaches and feels really good,” said Umran in a pre-match chat with broadcasters.

The 22-year-old further talked about how his team at the National Cricket Academy has been extremely beneficial for his growth. He expressed that he has learnt a lot from the NCA fast-bowling coach Troy Cooley which has improved his accuracy and ability to decode the situation.

“I trained at the NCA and worked alongside Troy (Cooley, the NCA fast-bowling coach). I am working here in the side (with the national team) and it feels very nice as I get to learn from the experiences of many people here and can see the difference in terms of accuracy. I have to bowl fast, but I will also bowl with the variations,” added Umran.
