Prior to the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, the former’s captain MS Dhoni has indicated that he might bring curtains down to his distinguished league career. This year, Punjab have looked decent thus far, bagging five victories and three losses in their nine outings. On the other hand, Chennai have looked Indisciplined which has cost them. With only two wins and seven defeats in this tournament, the Yellow Army are at the bottom of the tally.
Against PBKS in Chennai, CSK will have to win the game to keep their playoffs chances alive. Ahead of the match, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer emerged victorious at the toss and invited CSK to bat first. Dhoni, who lost the toss, was shown the lively ambiance at the stadium by Danny Morrison and was also asked about his presence in the next year’s IPL. “Look at the reception, Does this mean you're coming back next year as well?” Asked Morrison. Replying to the former New Zealand bowler, Dhoni said, “Currently I don't know if I'm playing the next game or not.”
CSK have struggled in home games in IPL 2025
CSK have looked miserable in this tournament while playing at their home venue MA Chidambaram Stadium. This year, they have played five matches in their backyard and have won only one. In their previous game in Chennai, they registered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 25.
Talking about MS Dhoni, he has accumulated 140 runs in nine innings at a fine strike rate of 142.85. The 43-year-old will be expected to lead from the front in the remaining games to help Chennai advance to the next round.
