Spanish forward Jenni Hermoso testified at the trial of former President of Spain football federation Luis Rubiales on Monday, February 3. The trial was regarding the incident that took place during the final of Women’s FIFA World Cup between Spain and England in Sydney on August 20, 2023. Hermoso alleged that during the post-match presentation ceremony of the final, Rubiales kissed her without her consent that ruined one of the happiest moments of her career.
Notably, Spain defeated England by 1-0 to lift their maiden Women’s FIFA World Cup title in 2023. During that trial, Jenni Hermoso also revealed that she thought of putting on Luis Rubiales to clear thing out in public but later denied the idea. “I felt disrespected,” Hermoso was quoted as saying by Times of India. It stained one of the happiest days of my life,” she further said.

Speaking further, Jenni Hermoso revealed that after the World Cup final against England, when she was going to great Luis Rubiales, he grabbed her from the ears and kissed her on the lips. She said that she couldn’t understand what was happening with her at that moment. "I greeted the queen, I greeted her daughter. The next thing was meeting Rubiales,” Hermoso said. "The next thing he did was to grab me by the ears and kiss me on the mouth. I didn't hear or understand anything,"
Speaking further, Jenni Hermoso also said that how she was looking for a place to cry and how her teammate Irene Paredes stood up to stop the incident. "A kiss on the lips is only given when I decide so. "There was no place for me to be crying or lying in the corner of the dressing room."
The other players initially made fun of the incident before one, Irene Paredes, intervened to say: Stop, this is serious."
