The story of Mohammed Siraj's resurgence has been nothing short of sensational for India in the last few months. The 27-year-old looks like an absolutely different bowler altogether and his career graph has only gone up. Following his impressive performances against Australia and England, the pacer became the leader of the attack for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2021. While the on-field heroics of Siraj are indeed praise-worthy, it has been quite challenging times for him off the field.

Siraj recalls the tough tour to Australia

The fast-bowler was spotted crying during the national anthem on Day 1 of the Sydney Test against Australia. Siraj had later revealed that he was remembering his dad as he always wanted to see him play Test cricket for his country. Unfortunately, Siraj's father died on November 20 due to illness, shortly after Siraj landed in Australia and could not see his son fulfilling his dream.

I am with you, don't worry: Kohli's message to Siraj

Siraj also went on to reveal how skipper Virat Kohli helped him when he was so upset in Australia. In a conversation with TOI, he said, "Kohli has supported me through thick and thin - he has been always there for me, I was crying in the hotel room in Australia, he came to me and hugged and told 'I am with you, don't worry'. As soon as the Hyderabad-born cricketer landed in India from Australia, he went straight to pay respects to his father's grave.

Even in RCB, Kohli backed me a lot: Siraj

The 27-year-old also added the backing and confidence shown by his skipper on him is the reason behind his resurgence. Siraj revealed Kohli's message to him during IPL as he said, "Miaan.. tumhare mein jo changes aaye hain.. those are amazing" (The changes you have brought about in your bowling are amazing). It will benefit our team. Be ready for the England tour. All the best. Keep up the good work." The pacer also added that Virat keeps telling him that he has the ability to play on any wicket and get rid of any batsman and this is what motivates him to do well.

There is no doubt that a captain plays a huge role in moulding the career of any player. However, how Virat Kohli has supported the fast-bowler in the last few months is absolutely commendable and the results are there for everyone to see. While Siraj is indeed a champion with what he has done for the country despite the personal tragedy, Kohli has also proved why he is known as one of the best leaders in the game.
